I/ITSEC 2015: Esterline Simulation Visual Systems Wins Contract To Upgrade Flight Mission Simulators For Tiger Helicopter

(Xenia, Ohio – November 25, 2015) Esterline Simulation Visual Systems, a new business of Esterline Corporation (NYSE:ESL; www.esterline.com), has been awarded a contract to upgrade four full-flight mission simulators for the Tiger helicopter. Esterline Simulation Visual Systems will supply three of its TREALITY® flight mission simulators to the École Franco-Allemande (EFA) joint training center in Le Luc, France where French and German Tiger pilots undergo training. The fourth TREALITY mission simulator is destined for one of the operational regiments located in Fritzlar, Germany.

Each TREALITY full-flight mission simulator consists of two separate nine-channel motion based spheres, operating in parallel, one of which is for the pilot and the other is for the gunner. Esterline Simulation Visual Systems is responsible for the design, installation, alignment, acceptance testing and maintenance of the visual display system.

The first retrofit began in mid-November 2015; the other three retrofits are planned for April, June and July 2016.

Frank Timmermans, vice president, Esterline Simulation Visual Systems, said:“The selection of our TREALITY full-flight mission simulators for the Tiger helicopter is further evidence of Esterline Simulation Visual Systems’ reputation for excellence and customer satisfaction.”

Peter De Meerleer, director strategic marketing and R&D, Esterline Simulation Visual Systems, added: “We are delighted to have been awarded this prestigious upgrade program. We will be responsible for the installation and development of system level capabilities and will be introducing our high-quality, constant light output feature on the visual display system.”

Esterline Simulation Visual Systems announced the launch of its new TREALITY brand of products at ITEC 2015. Formerly the Training & Simulation products business of Belgium-based Barco N.V., which Esterline acquired earlier this year, the new TREALITY product brand is synonymous with the design, development, manufacture and world-wide support of market leading, high-performance visual systems for military and commercial flight simulation and training.
