FLYHT’s African impact expands with SMS tools, new Customers, and AfBAA support

FLYHT Aerospace Solutions Ltd. (FLYHT)  announced on October 23 that another operator in Africa is adopting the AFIRS system to help improve operational effectiveness and safety compliance in their airline. There is growing demand in western Africa for systems that support the safe operation of aircraft and AFIRS is playing a key role in those systems with the software and products supplied to the Nigerian Government over the last several years.

This contract complements a recent contract signed with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (“NCAA”) to provide a Safety Management System Dashboard (“SMS Dashboard”).

The SMS Dashboard is an enhancement to the flight following system the Company installed in 2011. The SMS Dashboard will expand the current tracking and real-time alerts for the NCAA to monitor all Nigerian registered aircraft equipped with satellite based tracking solutions and data collection hardware. The information will also feed into FLYHT’s UpTime system, where it can be reviewed as needed.

“[FLYHT] has been a valuable partner,” stated Dr. Harold Demuren, Director General of the NCAA. “The Company continues to support our initiatives to improve aviation safety in Nigeria. The unique SMS Dashboard will significantly aid in our goal for increased real-time aircraft monitoring and build on the systems previously established”.

Bill Tempany, President and CEO of FLYHT stated “Our work with the senior officials in Western Africa has led to the recognition that our advanced technologies can provide tools to both operators and regulators to cost effectively put the reporting and monitoring systems in place that will drive for modernization of flight operations in the region. We are very pleased with the adoption of these technologies by operators in the region and look forward to the expansion of those services over time. FLYHT has been actively supporting the initiatives undertaken by regulators and has been supportive of the launch of the African Business Aviation Association (AfBAA) through relationships with various parties in Africa.”

FLYHT director, Jack Olcott, who is also a former NBAA president and currently an advisor to the African Business Aviation Association (AfBAA), said, “FLYHT is committed to supporting aviation development in Africa. Our most recent delivery to NCAA is an example of the ongoing work we are doing to further expand this burgeoning industry.”

The African Business Aviation Association was formed earlier this year to communicate and facilitate the value of Business Aviation throughout the Continent.  AfBAA’s Vision is “To establish Business Aviation as an asset that is recognized, valued and supported by governments, their respective Civil Aviation Authorities, enterprises and business leaders throughout Africa.”  Olcott said, “AfBAA places safety and efficiency of operations high on its agenda to assist the operators of business aircraft throughout the 56 nations of Africa. Considering the increasing importance of air transportation, including Business Aviation, AfBAA will be following advances in ATC and Flight Management with considerable interest”

A number of aircraft in operation across Africa are now equipped with FLYHT’s Automated Flight Information Reporting System (AFIRS™) to support daily operations and to comply with NCAA requirements.

FLYHT is providing also equipment, services and training to the NCAA over a five-year contract.
